About the event
48 Hr Sparks is a quarterly short film challenge designed to ignite creativity, foster collaboration, and build a stronger local filmmaking community across all ages and experience levels.
Hosted in partnership with the City of Mansfield, this event empowers filmmakers to create original short films in just 48 hours—from concept to final cut. Each season, teams receive a surprise genre, a prop, and a line of dialogue at kickoff, then race the clock to craft their story.
But this event isn’t just about fast filmmaking—it’s about growth.
Participants walk away with far more than just a finished film. They gain real-world experience under time constraints, sharpen their storytelling and production skills, learn how to make creative decisions under pressure, and grow as communicators and collaborators. It’s an opportunity to fail safely, learn quickly, and improve with every round.
